Day
1: Auckland
Welcome to New Zealand! The tour starts in Auckland, the City
of Sails and the largest city of the country.
Day 2: Auckland to Coromandel
We leave Auckland and follow the coastline along the Pacific Coast
Highway to the very natural Coromandel Peninsula. Winding roads
take us up along the west coast and down the eastern side of the
Peninsula.
Day 3: Coromandel to Rotorua
Amazing bush scenery and wonderfully winding roads lead us along
the coast and inland. In today's destination of Rotorua, the Maori
culture is still very present. The city is also known for its
geothermal activity and you can visit geysers.
Day 4: Rotorua to Martinborough
Today's ride is a bit longer, but very scenic when you pass Lake
Taupo and the volcanoes. Martinborough is a delightful little
town & is noted for its many vineyards - there are more than
30 of them located in the immediate vicinity. The town is home
to one of the most magnificent little boutique hotels that you'll
experience during the trip - the Martinborough Hotel. The hotel
is located on the town's main square and includes a lively bar
and an elegant dining room.
Day
5: Martinborough to Nelson
The day's ride begins with an early morning trip across the Tararua
Range to the ferry at Wellington, where you'll cross the Cook
Strait for Marlborough Sound and the South Island town of Picton.
Seeing Marlborough Sound from the vantage point of the ferry will
be an extraordinary experience (3 hours), but seeing it from the
motorcycle as we take the twisting and scenic Queen Charlotte
Drive is indescribable. You really have to ride it to believe
it. You'll want to stop repetitively for the many photo opportunities
at the scenic overlooks along the way.
Day 6: Nelson
You can use your free day to relax and enjoy the town's delightful
collection of cafes and quaint old architecture, or you may opt
for still another day of breathtaking scenery and hairpin turns
on a ride to Collingwood on Golden Bay, near the northernmost
point of the South Island.
Day
7: Nelson to Punakaiki
The rugged West Coast and the famous Pancake Rocks in Punakaiki
await us today.
Day 8: Punakaiki to Fox Glacier
It is a roller coaster ride down the West Coast to Fox Glacier.
The scenery is amazing, with lush green forest on your left and
the Tasman Sea to your right.
Day 9: Fox Glacier to Queenstown
More curves today as we cross the Haast Pass on our way to Queenstown.
Today's destination is also known as the adventure capital of
the world.
